Sectional model through the community pool, program bar and Olympic pool & seating. The program bar houses the locker rooms, as well as gym and wet classroom, which are used between both the community & athletic centers of the aquatic center. It acts as both as visible and functional divider between the two larger spaces.

Abstract collages based on the organization of our basic schematic for the pool. Looking at the pool as the central objects, with smaller program revolving around the circulation of various occupants. Then placing the program within the context of the site, analyzing it based on the orientation & site access.

Beginning with "site-less" material studies, we began exploring possible landscape changes and entrances into the building. Rather than building up material, we choose to follow a strict "cut and fill" process, by which the amount of mass we built up was precisely the volume that we moved from the site. The last images depicts a small scale representation of this.

Our site for the aquatic center, located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Due to the scale of the site, which covers approximately 400,000 square feet of the urban landscape, pedestrian access and use of the existing surrounding sites was a major concern. The bottom image uses materials extracted from the site, in an abstract representation of the existing conditions.
